Book Review: HARM Less by Arti Mishra

HARM Less by Arti Mishra is a resourceful book on conserving environmental biodiversity. It is a different book as it takes a peek into our daily consumer habits and how that harms self and our ecosystem of nature. The book is a powerful reminder for all of us with imperative themes like focusing on natural and sustainable living by incorporating small visible changes in our homely lifestyle. How’s that possible? For that, the book emphasizes reconnecting with nature and adopting a more mindful lifestyle.

When we say lifestyle – we mean the products that we use while bathing, oral care, beauty care, and in kitchen – the author firmly believes that all those fancy products with colourful packages are more of chemically contaminated that damage our body in long use and whatever residue it drops that goes in soil, water, air…subsequently polluting and affecting the ecosystem and food chain.

The book highlights the negative impacts of modern conveniences and chemical-laden products on health and the environment. In some of the chapters the author explains them one by one with possible impacts. However, she also adds up feasible solutions as way of practical and accessible advice, referring anecdotal   experiences from her personal life.

Many reviewers across social media handles have so far appreciated the book's practical suggestions for making small, impactful changes. It avoids advocating for drastic lifestyle fixes, instead offering achievable steps.

“HARM Less” has been very well received in India. Many reviewers describe the book as ‘eye-opening,’ ‘inspiring,’ and ‘empowering’. In nutshell, the book appears to be an educational guide for those seeking to live a healthier, more environmentally conscious life, free from chemical contamination.
