Abbyradhya by Jyothi Krishna is a riveting short fast-paced love story. The novel offers a unique romance genre, which is free from intimacy and inclined more towards the confluence of hearts than anything else. The title is a combination of two people’s names: Abby and Aaradhya. Both are protagonists.
The spellbinding tale of love begins with Aaradhya’s 27th birthday. She is a super rich businesswoman. After an initial background sweep, Aaradhya stumbles upon Abby in the flight to New Zealand. Abby is so handsome that she secretly wishes to love and marry him. Things work out during the travel. They meet for two days in the unruffled romantic beauty of New Zealand. They love each other and looking forward to get into marriage without any hurdles as professionally both are settled: Aaradhya into business, and Abby a successful painter.
The story turns into an atypical compelling read when the fate strikes its chord. Aaradhya upon reaching India finds her father dead. She is devastated but soon learns about his human side, which nudges her to take her father's promises and aspirations to new heights. This change urged her not to get into marriage. As a result she bows to lead a life without marriage and Abby.
On the other hand, Abby relentlessly pursues Aaradhya for a life together. But she didn’t budge. Both continue their career and life in their respective fields. The author tests the veracity of true love, does it come back in any form, after many years...or it just evaporates. The novel is not only about love and chasing it, rather it also depicts some challenges that the characters accept by going against the society norms. Not marrying all life is not considered a good sign in our society. Yet nothing moves Aaradhya from her determination. The characters are relatable. Life moves on from one generation to another, yet feelings for love, the respect for love remains undefiled. The story has a good flow, and fast-paced. If you enjoy a novel of romance and love that is slightly offbeat, you must pick it up.
The novel is inspired by the universal love tale of Radha and Krishna. Love can be different with different meanings...and true love hardly fades down the lane of time. Jyothi has expertly woven a tale of romance and its allied idiosyncrasies. Though characters are less, yet they are fully fleshed out. She should be writing more of such novels on love and life. Highly recommended! Go for it.
