Lost by Samair
is a contemporary novel, part romance, part general. With optimum length and
written in lucid narrative, this novel is going to charm the young audience of
India any day. The story features Utkarsh and Kiara, with some more auxiliary
characters in the backdrop.
Utkarsh is a
rich boy from a well-to-do political family. He has had a luxe time in Mumbai
while pursuing his graduation course. And for his post-graduation study, he
gets shifted to Indore in a mediocre college. Here onwards, the story picks up
the pace as other characters, too, join him. It is a multi-narrative novel, and
interestingly all the chapters start with a letter 'L', such as lips, love, lap
dance, link, litter, and so on.
The good thing
about the book is that it has short chapters, which not only insinuates a
curiosity among readers but also keeps the boredom at bay. Other than Utkarsh
as a protagonist, the female lead is Kiara – ravishing and rich. Kiara and
Utkarsh happen to be in the same college. Their initial meetings, with matter
of time and with great sense of humour, set the stage for their love story.
Like other smooth and modern love stories, with no typical inhibitions, they
become a good and desirable couple. Are they in true love? Or something else is
cooking up in their hearts?
As the story
chugs ahead, we see that the couple finds problems in the relation, especially
Kiara. They break up? Why? Anyway, after the breakup both head for their career
paths. Utkarsh becomes a stand-up comedian, and Kiara gets into a maze of
startup things. Their routes have been parted. Will they meet or their love was
simple and was not destined to be together? As you delve deep into the story,
these types of thoughts will begin haunting you no sooner than later.
Another thing
to note is that you will not realize that at one point of time Kiara begins
leading the story, Utkarsh gets limited, visible only in snatches. However, the
major twist in the story is not just their love story. There is one guy, simple
and sober, who too plays an important role in defining the story of these two
protagonists. Guess who?
The novel
succeeds in exploring the themes of modern day and what culture and psychic
overwhelms the youth of current generation, especially college goers.
The novel has
much on offer for the people looking to find the true meaning of love in their
life. Be it any time or generation, the value of true love can never be dimmed.
But there is one prominent question that this book presents: does love stay the
same, the way it begins. Romance and love stories in college are common, but
how many of these stories really get up to their destination. Things are
destined to be changed. What will happen with this couple – Utkarsh and Kiara?
What's in store for them? To know the depth, pick up the novel as quickly as
possible.
Samair as an
author has better writing skills, and the way he weaved this story, it clearly
suggests that he is here to stay for longer time.
