Author Highlight: Viswanatha Discusses his New Book ‘Life Know-How: Sensible Advice to Live Life to the Fullest’ and Stories from his Life
We are back
with another author interview. Today, with us, we have Viswanatha– the author
of ‘Life Know-How: Sensible Advice to
Live Life to the Fullest’. In this interview, Viswanatha talks about his
writing aspirations, the route to getting his book published, and his
inclination towards self-help guides. Stay on...while we chat with him.
What motivates you to write?
I like to help
others and writing a book is one way of helping people. I also feel writing is therapeutic to me.
How do you handle the response of this book?
I am grateful
to everyone who understands the advice given in the book and applies it in real
life. I will be thankful for the feedback.
Why did you choose to write a self-help book? Isn’t it challenging for you?
I started
writing some notes on important life topics for my daughter. The notes looked good enough to me and I
decided to share it as a book for others. That is how the self-help book came into existence. It was challenging
to find the important topics to include in the book as the subject of the book
is LIFE itself.
Do you think writing a book from the comfort of bedroom is possible?
No. One should
sit at a proper study desk in a quiet room and write the book.
Where do you write from? Do you go to some specific place, like beachside or into the hills?
I write from
my home, usually sitting at my computer/study desk.
Did you do proper research before penning down this book?
I did some research
related to existence of life manual for young adults. I did not find anything
comprehensive enough about life. Many books deal with few life issues in depth
and that’s about it.
What inspired you to write this book? Any tales to tell…
The inspiration
was the desire for my own daughter to live a good life whether or not I am
around.
What was your biggest learning experience throughout the publishing process?
You need to
have patience for the editors, cover designers and book printers to do their
job. If you want to publish a good
quality book, it takes time.
Looking back, what did you do right that helped you break in as a writer?
This is my
first book. I am used to creating proposals, contracts as part of my IT job.
This definitely helped in writing a book.
Any best piece of writing advice from your side that we haven’t discussed?
Writing takes
a good amount of time and effort. So, please keep this in mind if you want to
start writing something on your own.
Something personal about you people may be surprised to know?
I am a good
travel photographer.
Any future books that you would like to discuss now?
I have plans
to write on how to make the world a better place in another book.
