Book Review: Only Love is Real: A Story of Soulmates Reunited by Brian L. Weiss

Though the title of the book makes it sound fiction and of romance genre, well it is a non-fiction book that covers a very powerful aspect of human lives: love. It is not only a love story of two people who fall in love but a story of love. And it tells us how real love evolves from one time to another….at times it takes centuries and even many births. If you, so far, don’t believe in past-life or re-incarnation, better be prepared to be jolted by this book.

The essence of life is love. What will you say or express yourself if your soul is touched by someone who ignited your search for soulmate? Finding a true soulmate is like meeting someone from another world or it is like two people constantly in touch with each other though they existed in some different time and region. Dr. Brian L. Weiss is a famous psychiatrist and past-life therapist; by this book he brings forward a miracle. He sees two patients – gloomy and depressed. One is Elizabeth and second is Pedro. Elizabeth is over-the-limit depressed post losing her mother – she is under depression after her mother’s death and a number of break-ups follow in her life with men.

And there is Pedro, he is sad after losing his brother. Brian takes up their cases, one by one and separately, to heal them. On both of his patients, he uses techniques like past-life therapy, regression and visualization. What he sees, is something that surprises him. He is towards a miracle. He sees that the interests and other aspects of their personalities of both Elizabeth and Pedro are same in past births. They are connected to one another and they are true companions…they are in love…but they need to find one another.

Other than love, the author has also filled pages with lectures on existence…god…moral values…etcetera…etcetera. Other than their love story, there is nothing special in this book and you will find some magical/paranormal concepts of human lives like how soul enters body…re-incarnation and so on. To many this book may sound different and full of essence, but it is contrary to many firm beliefs, like rebirth. Does it happen?

Poem Summary: Where The Mind Is Without Fear by Rabindranath Tagore

Poem by Rabindranath Tagore: Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high Where knowledge is free Where the world has not been broken up into fragments By narrow domestic walls Where words come out from the depth of truth Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit Where the mind is led forward by thee Into ever-widening thought and action Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake. Short Summary: This poem is written by Rabindranath Tagore during pre-independence days, when India was a colony of the British.
