Few Things
Left Unsaid by Sudeep Nagarkar is a tasteless novel that claims to be a work of
romance. There is no story in it, neither setting nor plot. Why and how people
love his books and make him behave like a best-seller writer is indeed a matter
of concern.
It is just an
ordinary tale of a student pursuing engineering. These stories are very common
and predictable. Writing was too lame – leaves no influence or impact on the
readers - a below standard book by all means. Coming to the story we have two
protagonists in this book, one is Aditya and the second one a girl called Riya.
They are in the same engineering college and in the same class at least for the
first year. After this that all drama starts: love at first sight, proposing
the girl in a most romantic way, and then celebrating birthdays, talking on
phone all night and chatting and so on. To their company are few good sane
friends, a very common spicy thing that happens everywhere in India.
Well, their
love story sucks and all the time sounds stagnant. There is nothing much that the
writer could do to add pace in the story. He is continuously, page by page,
describing the same life i.e. both are going to the college, missing each
other, at times kissing each other, talking on phone, getting extra worried for
exams, getting KTs in exams, partying with friends, getting into smoking and
drinking.
Also, the
author did not take any pain in describing the physical attributes of both the
characters. Readers could not guess how their male hero looked and for the girl
he described her provocative dressing style – and from time to time he asserted
that Riya is looking sexy. That’s all from the master of romance. It is a pure shit
from Sudeep. Then they break up…weep…cry and all that warts and all drama… and
in the end they meet for no strong reason. Characterization is at worst, with
no sweeps at all. Read it if you
like to see yourself crying out of sheer frustration.

Very true review. I disliked this tasteless story too. Its written in such a childish language & has a shit of immature dialogues. Such a basic story, sudeep has just dragged it.
ReplyDeleteHonestly what was the author thinking while writing this? The premises and setting of the story are cliches, and characterisation is the worst. The book yells true love many a times, yet ends up in toxicity and sexualization. I haven't read much books by him so that I don't know about them, but I really regret about reading this one.
