After penning
down number of light novels, this time Chetan Bhagat tried hands into
non-fiction. ‘What Young India Wants’ by Chetan Bhagat is one such book where
he took time to interact with the youth of India. As per the current situation
and heat of the country, Mr. Bhagat wisely segmented the book into three parts:
Society, Youth, and Politics. After this there are two short stories.
Over a period
of time, he has been a columnist for an array of magazines and newspapers.
Basically, he has taken content of this book from those articles and columns.
In a sense, it is a compilation of his past writings. Well, but he has put in
everything in a very simple language so even the non-regular readers can flit
by his book. In this book, he talked about and discussed student suicide
problems, corruption, economy problems and so on. But he insisted that the omen
should not fall on the shoulders of politicians – blaming them is a lost battle
– rather citizens (especially youth) need to take charge of the situation.
On a positive
side, he tried offering solutions to many problems, but they are feasible or
not, that cannot be said. He is of the opinion that youth has the capacity, if
they got infused with right attitude, to take India near to as a super power in
the world. Well, with this book Chetan tried to inspire the people of India to
tackle the issues that they face every day in life.
